The Life Cycle of a Movement can be defined by specific steps.

1. The Core Concept

A charismatic leader or coaches present a revolutionary approach that promises a panacea for disconnected individuals.

And so it goes. Preparations are underway to confront the system down in Brisbane. The gunships are circling. Smoke is rising from the out-houses. One individual, vulnerable, nervous, the phrase ATTACKING MINDSET displayed prominently as a symbol, has stumbled from the field and is being led away in secrecy for a temporary assignment at Derbyshire.

2. The Honeymoon Phase

Movement founders guarantee a reboot, optimism ahead, love, salvation among a group with shared faith in the method.

What did it represent initially? Just men on a balcony enjoying success. Body art. Muscles. Focus. Elite male wellness energy. Admittedly, England’s players insist it’s not a real term, which is funny since it’s not recognized, what was that spectacle?

Yet it’s clear the concept. It’s the batsman attempting a move so depraved it’s beyond belief. It’s the excitement of the leader in ultimate mode, an expression conveying: focused titan, beard made of wood, untamed style, truly contemporary you wouldn’t be surprised to look down and notice he’s fielding on the ground bare-chested and cradling a wild salmon.

It’s the opener continuing to have permission addressing the media, resembling a joyful figure smartly dressed, expressing thoughts like we are actively deconstructing the orange. Indeed, the vibe, initially, was entirely positive.

3. Expansion Period

Growth phase. Togetherness strengthened through repetition of mantras. These beliefs can appear contradictory to prove commitment.

Am I alone? The backlash, the outrage, the sense of betrayal following the initial loss seems too strong, unwarranted. The performance was poor in Perth, as they often do in Australia. On the other hand, exists the larger scene of Australia’s more nuanced deep-seated frustration at these weirdly passive-aggressive buccaneers, claiming, the methods you value and have developed as part of your identity culturally from us, it’s not serious in the end old boy.

This is the core issue. It’s all cults. The approach was a phenomenon because cricket is a cult. In fact, the team has long been exclusive, a circle, a garden party, a closed world with two hundred years of tradition and mystery defining it.
