Just as bad weather swept through the northern region the night before, the home side blew Manchester United away at the Etihad. It was a statement three-nil victory for their manager's side thanks to goals from Knaak, Bunny Shaw and Hemp. It was a result that firmly established their title credentials as they consolidated their place at the top of the table.

Successive Losses for Manchester United

This result represented consecutive WSL setbacks for the United manager's side for the maiden instance since spring 2024, leaving them a significant margin off the table toppers with their title hopes severely dented.

Manchester United's capacity to balance domestic and continental football with a thin squad has been a frequently analyzed topic since they earned a place in the UCL. Looking at the fixture list, it always felt like this was the matchday that would seriously challenge this ability. Unfortunately for the opposition, they looked tired throughout, the memorable win against Paris Saint-Germain clearly having taken a toll.

Tactical Shifts
